Hop Earth is a browser-based 3D driving game that turns real-world roads into a playable driving environment. Choose a location, land on the map, and take your car onto roads built from real geographic data.

Choose a Real Place to Drive

Hop Earth lets you select a location from the real world before dropping into the game. The map uses OpenStreetMap road data together with satellite elevation information to build the playable environment.

You can choose a city, coastal area, mountain road, or another mapped location, then use the map to decide where you want to begin. Monte Carlo is shown by default, while the map view lets you select another destination directly.

Drop From the Sky and Find the Road

After choosing a location, click “Hop Here” to enter the area. Your character arrives from around 2,000 meters under a parachute before reaching the playable ground.

Make sure the landing has finished before trying to use the controls. If the character remains stuck at the spawn height and the ground does not get closer, reloading and joining again may be necessary.

Call a Car to the Road

Once you are standing on a loaded road, hold X to summon a vehicle according to the game's prompt. Give the car time to arrive and settle before trying to enter it.

Press F to get into the vehicle. From there, the road becomes your main playground as you drive through the real-world environment.

Hop Earth Driving Controls

  • WASD / Arrow Keys: Drive or walk
  • X: Hold to summon a vehicle; while driving, tap to reset or hold to return to the road
  • F: Enter or exit the car
  • J: Nitro; holding it can make the car jump over broken geometry
  • Space: Handbrake/kickflip
  • H: Open the help and controls screen

Drive Through Real Roads

The roads and terrain are generated from geographic information rather than from a completely fictional racing circuit. This gives Hop Earth its unusual driving setup: your route can begin in a familiar city, move across a coast, or follow roads through mountainous terrain.

The game currently focuses on free roam. Racing and GPS navigation are listed as features in development, so the present experience is mainly about choosing a place and exploring its roads.

Create a Route With Real Roads

The map also includes a Create a race option. Choose a starting point and a finishing point, and the game draws a route along the real road network.

The route panel can show information such as:

  • Route length
  • Weather
  • Road surface
  • Elevation
  • Starting street

You can then start the route, share it with other players, or reset the markers and choose another path.

Explore Beyond the Car

Driving is only part of the current experience. Helicopters and weapons are also available, while multiplayer sessions include chat and a scoreboard.

  • 1 / 2: Switch weapons
  • T: Open chat
  • Tab: View the scoreboard
  • N: Skip to the next music track

The game also supports touch controls, with movement handled from the lower-left area and steering, aiming, and shooting available through the mobile interface.

Tips for a Better First Drive

  • Let the world finish loading before repeatedly pressing controls.
  • Wait until the parachute landing is complete.
  • Click the game frame before using keyboard controls.
  • Hold X only after reaching the loaded road.
  • Wait for the vehicle to stop before pressing F.
  • Use J when broken road geometry prevents the car from continuing.
  • Start your own session if a shared race link becomes crowded.

Take the Wheel Anywhere

Hop Earth connects real-world map data with a browser driving experience, giving you a different way to explore roads across the planet. Pick a location, make your landing, summon your vehicle, and start driving. If you want to play a similar game, try Slow Roads.
